Tony Vargas

Tony gives lectures globally on maintaining reef aquariums and how to properly handle and manage fish populations in a captive reef environment. Tony is the first reef expert to lecture in China and was back in 2017 to judge a reefscape competition. In 1990, Tony created VargasReef Consulting; this company helped provide customers with professional custom state-of-the-art installations, aquarium maintenance, care for these systems, and offsite monitoring. This company also furnished expert advice on system care, aquarium husbandry, and animal care for long-term success (freshwater and saltwater). In August 2011, Tony released his book “The Coral Reef Aquarium, Vol I” the bestselling Aquarium book in our digital era. The book focused on the basics of reef keeping, suggestions for the advanced aquarist, how to correctly assemble a coral reef aquarium (five great examples), acclimation, and the long-term care of these critters in a captive environment. Tony released his forthcoming book, “The Coral Reef Aquarium Vol II,” in 2023.
